Lip to Cheek: DIY Beauty

I have had a lot of beauty experiments. Not all of them go according to plan. In fact most fall pretty flat. But, I have to say I'm pretty stoked about this lip to cheek. There are two different versions.

First you need to get a beet. Peel it and grate it. Add the beet shreds into a sieve. Place the sieve over a bowl and press the juice out.

OPTION 1: Make my chapstick recipe and add 2 Tablespoons of beet juice. You'll need to constantly stir it as it cools to properly combine all of the ingredients. Apply it by dabbing onto cheeks and blending. You can use a lip brush or your finger for lips.

OPTION 2: Pour the beet juice into a container with a roller and add 1/8 of teaspoon of clear alcohol. Give a good shake, and roll onto your cheeks and blend. Roll onto lips and apply non-tinted chapstick on top.

The vitamin E in the chapstick and the alcohol in the roller both work as preservatives. I found that the chapstick recipe broke down quicker even when stored in the fridge. It tends to oxidize and turn a little darker in color.  That could also be that it's stored in a metal tin?

Overall I like the roller better and applying non-tinted chapstick on my lips afterwords. I think it lasts longer and applies easier. It's also easier to make! A total win all the way around. When's the last time you bought organic makeup for .80 cents?

Do you think you'll try it? Have you made any DIY make up? What were your successes and failures?
